B12, Fresh International Market, and Long Haired Gardening Boys
I had my first B12 injection today. Evidently my latest B12 test showed that the B12 supplement wasn't doing a whole hell of a lot for me so I am now getting B12 injections every month. This actually gives me hope that perhaps there is a definable reason I still feel lousy. Fingers crossed.
On the way back from the doctor's office (and Ernie's physical therapy for his shoulder---we are now the old couple that goes to doctor's appointments together) we stopped at the new Fresh International Market. Smile Politely had given a shout out to it so I wanted to check it out. And WOW! It was very early so they didn't have all their fish, etc. out but we still grabbed some nice cheap salmon. I look forward to going back when everything is out. It's in the same little strip mall that houses Golden Harbor. The place is HUGE. I tried not to buy too much but all the Asian greens were so tempting. I wasn't really shopping for anything, although we were out of a few things, just looking really, but ended up with salmon, soy sauce, fish sauce, rice noodles, some Indian cracker that appears to be rice based and just says Crunchy Spicy Tasty, so I couldn't resist, some Chinese broccoli, and lots of teensy little bok choy. All for not much more than $25. We should have a good dinner tonight. Oh, and everyone was super friendly to boot. I'm looking forward to making this a regular stop.
Perhaps next time, some fish balls?
In other news....we are finally getting plants and seeds in the ground, despite the lateness. We've given all the hostas away for now but most likely will be doing a second purge soon so will let folks know then. We even got Leo to do some outside work but it did not get photo-documented. Oh well.
We've been eating very simply trying to baby my stomach back to health. This salmon is frightfully overcooked (I hate well done salmon) but other than that this was a simple delicious meal. A marinade of maple syrup and worcestershire, with brown rice mixed with spinach and green onion...
And when I need something very simple....it's just roast chicken thighs with white rice and yet more spinach. It's all much less complicated than I usually cook but I find I'm enjoying the purity and simplicity of the flavors. Sometimes it's good to take a step back.
