Toilet Seats and Lines In The Sand
Why a certain 15 year old would want to draw a line in the sand about putting the toilet seat down I do not know. Seriously, this is where you make your stand? My rule is not only the toilet seat, but also the lid, has to be put down. This may not be everybody's rule, but it's my rule and I make no exceptions for my family members. Just put the damn toilet seat down. This shouldn't be a big deal. However his take on it is, "this isn't a big deal, why are YOU making it a big deal?" Grrrrr. So we have had, uh, some wide ranging discussions about respect.. We'll call it that. And frankly, I just want to kill him, because just PUT THE FUCKING TOILET SEAT DOWN.
Anyway, he seems to have come around and has been making an effort, for which I am most appreciative. Last night as Ernie and I were sitting in the media room we heard screeching and hollering and Owen raced into the room, practically falling over in his excitement, and said, "OMG, DAD...YOU left the toilet seat up!" Ernie started sputtering and denying it and then finally said, "well, everyone forgets sometimes." I thought Owen was going to burst a blood vessel. He laughed and he laughed and he laughed and he laughed....
It's always good when you give your a child a gift. Thanks Ernie.
