Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. During Owen's recounting of his middle of the night bike ride he said, "and then we were in the middle of some campus." I tipped my head and looked him, and said, "Uhhh, it's called the University of Illinois honey." He gave me the same look back and said, "I can't tell if you're being funny or not." I shrugged and he continued with his tale.
2. We came across this house, actually it's a funeral home, in our travels yesterday and flinched in horror.
3. Yesterday when we came home somehow things got very loud, and at one point, Ernie yelled, "I WANT SOME QUIET!" Owen yelled back, "THEN WHY DID YOU COME HOME?" The ridiculousness of this made us all laugh. Leo shook his head and said he was going upstairs.
4. D.L. Menard passed away. I saw him many years ago in Chicago. Ernie and I were casually talking about it and Owen piped up and said, "Cajum? Isn't that a kind of fries at Popeye's?" Again, I laughed and laughed. God knows, at least I'm easily amused. I started talking about Cajum culture and tried playing him some D.L. Menard videos. He looked at in shock and said, "This is really awful." I kept playing different songs. He started playing the Groovies on his phone to block me out. I'll get him though. I know I will.
5. Ernie and I did something unprecedented the other day. We went to a movie. I know, utterly shocking for us. Saw The Big Sick....enjoyed it, and I got to eat some popcorn so I was happy.
6. Great batch of scrambled eggs from the Eggmaster today. The hot sauce had me gobbling TUMS though. Geesh. Well, that, or a remnant of our visit to the Burger Barge. Who the hell knows.
7. Eh, off to buy Leo's shelves. I swear I'm not putting it off another day.
