Random Notes, Peter Case, and More
1. Every day on the way to work we pass a huge house under construction. They tore down a nice well-built mid-century house and started building this crazy McMansion 3.0. It’s huge and has lots of tile and it just keeps going and going and going. The other day as Ernie and I passed it he mentioned to me that he and Owen refer to it as Pizza Hut. I just stared at him and laughed and laughed and laughed. It makes no sense at all but it truly amused me. Yesterday as Owen was driving me home, he just nodded his head in the direction of the house, looked me, and said, “Feel like pizza?” God those boys entertain me.
2. Ernie went to register the bug yesterday and it turns out the seller entered something on the wrong line on the title. Poor Owen. We have to send it back to Tennessee and wait for them to fix it. For now, Owen just sits in the bug. Ernie dropped me off at work this morning and went back to the house (the boys have late start on Wednesdays) and found Owen just sitting in Cyril. Oh, and Chris Wilson commented on my Facebook page that it’s very appropriate that Owen named his bug Cyril, because for years it was the only car that Cyril drove. He had a ’54 with the split rear window. Heh.
3. Leo’s birthday is coming up soon. It shocks the hell out of me that he is going to be 18. We are planning a family trip to Minneapolis to chase a steam engine for the occasion. I feel as though he should still look like this.
Or even this:
4. Time is flying by. Next week Nashville, two weeks later Minneapolis. No wonder I’m always broke. Then we’re going to see the Groovies in Chicago, and then a week after that, on October 27, 2017, it’s PETER FREAKING CASE with the debut of our very own Taxi Boys. Whew. And then Thanksgiving and then Christmas, and then and then and then. I don’t understand how time goes so fast.
Another great Gerking poster. Thanks Mark!5. My ulcer seems to be healing up and I am able to eat more things than I was. Back to drinking wine I know you’ll be pleased to hear. I’m still figuring things out. I made something with lots of onion and garlic the other day and my stomach was not pleased. Yet again, I find myself offended on behalf of garlic and onion. I’m still avoiding gluten to a certain extent. I can do some without incident but too much makes me feel wretched. Last night I tried gluten free hot dog buns because we were having bratwurst (our delayed Labor Day dinner). And no, just no. No, no, no, no.
6. And lastly, my beloved Annie. I don't know why it tickles me so when she forgets her tongue is hanging out but it amuses me no end. And she's such a little old curmudgeon that she just looks at me as if to say, "what the hell is wrong with YOU?" My girl.
