I love swivel chairs. As we were driving home from the hospital yesterday I commented that I'd been so happy with the new waiting room furniture. Ernie seemed amused by this. I told him I loved swivel chairs so much that I could remember favorite swivel chairs in my past. He was even more amused by that statement. Of course he'd just gotten out of anesthesia. There were the chairs at the Autumn Tree many years ago, kind of like little swivel club chairs. Then there were the swivel chairs in the little bar in Delafield, WI that we used to go to. It was kind of an old school supper clubbish restaurant with a little bar to the side. You had to go up a couple steps to the bar so when you sat at the bar it was table height even though it was still bar height for the bartenders on the other side. The chairs swiveled delightfully and there always seemed to be very old reruns of McCloud on the TV. Then there are of course the barstools at my beloved Esquire. Oh, and for awhile Courtyard Marriotts had great orange swivel chairs in their lobbies. I'm sure more will come to me.

I must admit that when we got home from the hospital yesterday I took a nap. I just kind of nudged Hattie over on the couch and curled up. Ernie was watching something on tv. I woke up once and looked over to see him dozing too. I was suddenly glad Leo was out of town so nobody would walk in and see us drowsing on the couch in the middle of the afternoon. What can I say? Ernie's excused of course and I'd had an earlier than usual morning.
We perked up later. We didn't feel like fussing with dinner (we never do anymore) but we had some salmon from Harvest Market. Lately we've been starting salmon in a cold pan, skin side down, and it does help keeping it from sticking. Unfortunately, we forgot to put olive oil in first but damn did that skin get crispy! As you can see here, Ernie donated his crispy skin to me. I keep telling him...you love potato chips...this is like a big crispy salmon potato chip! To no avail I'm afraid. We also made my friend Diana's salad dressing, which is a vinaigrette sweetened with orange marmalade. SO GOOD! And now I have a batch of vinaigrette in the refrigerator. Woo-hoooo! Honest to God, the whole meal was done in about 15 minutes and was lovely. That's what I have to remember when I want to weaken and buy a frozen pizza.

Leftover salmon and gouda (with a bit of hot sauce) quesadilla and strawberries for breakfast. I love the gluten free flour tortillas but they're a buck a piece....so we went with corn tortillas. I generally avoid fish and cheese together but can't argue with success. It was perfect. Thank you, Ernie.

Ernie loved the puffy heated blankets they have now but I was afraid it was going to eat him.

Thursday I get a shot in my back next week and can't wait as it's been pretty bad of late. It takes a few weeks to kick in (or at least it did last time) but then it does help. It doesn't get rid of the pain but it softens it. Ernie also gets bloodwork done for Barnes that day. Cross your fingers. His most recent bloodwork showed his platelets up so it should be ok.
I can't get that damn Jelly Roll song out of my head.
Onward.
