The Park With No Toys....and other notes

The first time we took the boys to Allerton I think was not long after Ernie's cancer surgery.  I had some time off work and as he healed we tried to do some family things.  So one day we told the guys (who were two and four at the time) that we were going to a new park.  They were excited and we drove off to Monticello.  We parked and got out and Leo looked around suspiciously before asking "where are all the toys?"  At first I was confused, telling him that we never take toys to the park and then I realized he meant the playground equipment.  Uh-ohhhhh.  I said it was a different kind of park, it was a park with no toys and that was that.  The Park With No Toys became one of their favorite places to go.

We haven't been in awhile....guess the last year has been kind of hectic (!) and so we visited for the first time in ages on Sunday.  Guess what?  Leo insisted on calling it Allerton instead of The Park With No Toys.....broke my heart.....

In other Leo anecdotes.....yesterday he dressed himself and put his jeans on inside out.  Yup.  When Ernie pointed it out and suggested he might want to turn them rightside out he just stared at his father and said, "no....I DON'T care."  He wore them like that all day....little pockets flapping in the wind.  Man I love that boy.

Oh, and speaking of the word 'man'.....evidently I must say it a lot.  Here is a moment of Owen:
