Random Notes from a Hell of a Week

1.  A bit of a change in plans....after an absolutely horrid day yesterday, Ernie woke up in pain from a wrenched knee and he threw in the towel and canceled the antique show.  I feel bad leaving them in the lurch but he was in no way up to it.  It has just been a rough couple of weeks.  So some relief schedule wise.

2.  Last night I thought John McCain looked uncannily like a turtle.  Owen thought was the funniest thing ever and giggled through a good portion of the debate.  He's still got Kieran Kane and McCain somewhat confused even though he know he likes one and doesn't like the other.  First he was calling Kane Welch Kaplin McCAIN Welch Kaplin.  He finally got that under control but the other day he asked  me if O'Kane or Obama was winning.  I just didn't go into the whole O'Kanes Kieran Kane thing I just said Obama was ahead right now.   Leo of course, takes NO interest in politics.  Owen gets quite caught up however.  We have tried to explain that people just have different opinions---it doesn't mean that McCain is BAD.  He remained unconvinced until we told him some of our friends were going to vote for him.  Then he thought about it and said, "well, I guess he's not BAD, we just like Obama better."  Exactly I told him and patted myself on the back for being restrained.

3.  The boys were excited about their walk-a-thon at school but ended up being terribly disappointed that they had to WALK the whole time.  Huh? 

4.  The boys were happy Ernie wasn't going out of town.  But Owen thought about it and said, "oh, but if I had been there with him it would have been great.  I would have been dancing like this (and he demonstrated) and holding out a hat for money.  I just kind of stared at him.  "So Daddy would have been selling antiques and you would have been dancing for tips?"  He nodded happily and I said, "well then, it IS a shame that Daddy had to cancel."
