the end of the week and I'm not really sorry....

Can I just apologize now for giving Owen a rotten birthday?  I mean January 4 is just too close to Christmas…..and when it falls on the last day of the holiday break may I just add that it’s pretty much a recipe for disaster?  More excitement, more chaos and more toys.  ARGHHHHHHH.

A meltdown or two later things seem to be o.k.  After the sweet little wretch opened his presents I got obsessed with trying to clean up a little---partly because I was overwhelmed with the great piles of STUFF in our house and partly because some dear friends of Judi’s were visiting today.  So we started sorting and throwing and dusting.  Judi’s friends arrived and then my mother called and reminded me that I was supposed to have been at her house that morning to do her shopping, etc.  Whoops….  I admitted that I had totally forgotten her and said I’d be over shortly. Then I realized that I was going to make lunch and do a couple of other things so I called her back and said Ernie would be over as he had graciously offered.  Nope….she wanted me.  I got off the phone frustrated and cried but Judi’s friend Nancy is eminently kind and comforted me.  I took off, went to my mother’s, did her shopping, went the drugstore, packed up her Christmas stuff and made it back home before Ed and Nancy left.

Now Ernie is out with Owen and his new bike, Leo is on the other computer and I sit here having just eaten a piece of amazing coconut cake that Nancy had brought.

I’m tired.

Tomorrow I go back to work.  I’m not all sorry.  Wasn’t quite the week I had had in mind although of course it wasn’t all bad.  Owen’s birthday party has been put off to next weekend as I just could not get it together for this weekend.

Let’s just look at the pictures---sometimes it’s much more fun than actually living it……

Judi giving Owen the tea set she had as a little girl.  Owen has really wanted a tea set to go with all his little cooking equipment---he's going to love this.....
