Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  Hard to believe that I go back to work tomorrow.  Taking this much time off may play havoc with a summer vacation next year but it was well worth it.  I feel as though I've been gone six months though....

2.  We're feeling lazy and sort of aimless today.  I told myself I'd start doing thank you's and paying bills and the like but just don't feel like it.  I haven't gotten he death certificates yet so I need to nag the funeral home and see what's going on.  Lots of paperwork in my future....oh well.

3.  Debbie left today.  Just about broke my heart. 

4.  Had my mother and Debbie over for dinner last night and it turned out pretty well.  Warm poached salmon with a watercress sauce, mashed parsnips and potatoes and zucchini sauteed with onion and one of my favorite spice rubs with tarragon and orange in it.  Made me feel hopeful for spring. 

5.  I've been sitting here ordering some plants and seeds from one of my favorite garden places, Select Seeds.  I am SUCH a sucker for their old fashioned climbing petunias.  The flowers are tiny and incredibly fragrant, especially in early evening.  I like to put them around my arbor over the walkway to our house so you brush against them and smell them.  Their plants are always really well packed---I've had great luck with them as opposed to some horrendous packing by Burpee.  See?  I am thinking about spring....even though I WAS disappointed we didn't get more snow yesterday.

6.  Only for Aunt Debbie would Leo have agreed to pose in his Clone Trooper helmet.  With Owen of course it's no problem.... Oh, and notice Owen's Superdawg t-shirt....
