Thursday Morning
I slept last night. Really slept. Judi's dear friend Nancy stayed with her in her room last night and I slept. I woke up a few times, once when I heard Judi moaning but I could hear Nancy talking to her and I knew it was o.k. This morning Judi is mostly sleeping. She still responds a little bit when we talk to her. Her breath is slower than ever.....long pauses between breaths....long enough to make me stop breathing and then at last she will take in air one more time.
Look at this house. It used to be at 302 W. Church in Champaign. It was torn down in the 1960's. Look how beautiful it was. And now it's gone. Gone. Hard to believe, huh?

UPS just delivered an overnight package with the latest issue of the Therapeutic Recreation Journal from the National Therapeutic Recreation Society. In it is Judi's last journal article: "I Love Pumpkins": The Role of Therapeutic Recreation in Oncology. It brought tears to my eyes. Sometimes I'm fine but certain things trigger the tears. I'm not trying to read emails to her any longer but for this I did wake her and show it to her. She's not talking much but she understood and was pleased. My brilliant, beautiful sister.
