Random Notes from the Sandwich Life....
1. Right now I have my post counseling session headache from crying. I begged off on going to my mother's for dinner and just came home to put cold towels on my eyes. It was good though. I feel like we're moving into a better place now that we're starting to get over the shock of the cancer being in Ernie's bones. Yesterday was hard because let's face it....the chemo room is not the prettiest of places....I mean despite the fact that it's new and beautiful and complete with fireplaces....it's still not where you want to be. Ernie's really tired today-----maybe it's the radiation kicking in....or some of the other crap in his system. My sweet pea.
2. I can not imagine having a husband who didn't break into this song EVERY time I mentioned a recipe that calls for.....green onions. On one hand it drives me crazy and on the other hand it would break my heart if he didn't do it....
3. You know life is pretty good when your 9 year old races up the steps to your house, bursts through the front door and yells, "you guys COME OUT there's a RAINBOW."
4. Despite all my entreaties, Leo refused to read Harry Potter or have it read to him. Adamantly REFUSED. Geesh. So recently when I had absolutely nothing to read I picked up his unwanted copies of the first two Harry Potters and read them to my great and unexpected delight. Last night I had nothing to read when I went to bed and mentioned to the guys that I needed to get the third Harry Potter. Today Ernie took the boys to the bank so they could cash their coins in for actual---and FAR more impressive---dollar bills. They got back and dropped Leo off and he reported that they were going to the library to get Owen a book. A good bit of time later Owen triumphantly came into the living room holding the third Harry Potter book over his head. "I got this for you Mom" he smiled. He'd also gotten himself a book on the army....God help me....but I was so touched that he had asked to be taken to the library to get me a book. I am so, so blessed. And that's one of the things that made me cry when I talked to the counselor today----just realizing that I am so very, very blessed....and so I just will have to pay the price for that....and that's o.k....that's o.k.....
5. and hey....LOOK....my lungwort is blooming!
