Notes from a Windy Day
Incredibly windy today....the sounds of the gusts are almost drowning out the Amy Rigby I'm playing on my laptop as I type this. The sound of wind like that used to scare me when I was a little kid. I always thought it meant something bad was coming..... I think Owen felt that way a little as he asked Ernie to walk him down to Parker's house. Once they hit the alley near Parker's though Owen said, "Dad, I think I can take it from here...." Now he and Owen, Parker and Dema are all playing at our little park.
Ernie is across the room, holding his crossword puzzle....but his eyes are closed. I think he's just listening to the music but he's more still than normal. Ernie is a lot like his mother---she was never really still. So when he gets tired and is kind of still I always worry a little bit. It's been an exhausting run of late though so I guess I should just let him be still..... My sweet tired boy.
We went over to my mother's today and brought pizza for lunch and hung out a bit. I worry about her but I don't know how to stretch much further right now. She's not confused but her memory isn't what it was and of course she doesn't bother to wear her expensive new hearing aids so that just complicates things further. Oh man...I'm just waiting for someone to tell me how to figure out taking care of her. I just don't know.
We drove home listening to the first Ramones album on CD which Ernie bought the other day at CVS. I kept looking at it----it's got demo versions on it as well---and saying, "REALLY? You got this at CVS?"
"You bought a Ramones album at the DRUGSTORE?"
Huh.
the trees beginning to burst with buds
the daffodils are coming up.....
and Owen took a bath....
and then I cooked some swiss chard stems and garlic and onions....and MAN it smelled good....
