Old Friends....
The last year or so has really taught me the value of old friends----the close friends who have been there supporting us every step of this admittedly wretched year, but also the comfort of seeing old friends you haven't seen in many years and the pleasure in realizing that there is still a bond there....
Saw the Outnumbered last night and I was floating high on the pleasure of seeing more people I love.... Got to hug Rob Arrol, got to hug Kenny Draznik, got to hug Miles Harveyand Rich Cohen, got to hug Annette, got to hug Jon Ginoli, got to hugPete..... Never did get to hug Paul Budin but next time... oh there were many more hugs....I'm leaving lots out.... Iwas wearing a 10 year old dress and not a shred of make up and didn'treally care.... It all felt good.
While we were at the show we heard about the death of Jay Bennett....and although I didn't know him, I know there are people that I care for very much that did and must be hurting....
I remember shortly after Judi died I opened the evening newspaper and looked at the page of obituaries....I looked at Ernie in amazement and said, "look at how many people are going through what we are." Sometimes grief feels like such a solitary thing but at the some time it gives one such empathy for others feeling that pain and that shock...the unreality of a solid being that laughed and sneezed and ate.....just gone.... How can that be?
Probably drank more wine than I should have...especially considering that we didn't eat dinner....hope we didn't scare the babysitter when we got home....
