Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. Today is the last day of school for the guys. They are of course over the moon. It is also Ernie's birthday and they seem to feel that the fact that it is the last day of school is like a HUGE birthday present for him. We don't want to tell them that it's actually a day of mourning..... Although no Owen morning battles for awhile is certainly a gift....
2. Even though today is cold and rainy it is feeling like summer. The other day I came home and I had to smile as I drove up the alley..... there were beach towels hanging on the porch railing, the umbrella was open and the table full of sun block, cups of water and gardening tools....boys were splashing and screaming in the pool and there were weeds popping up in the gardens.... It felt good...despite the weeds....
3. Lousy wife that I am I don't have a present for Ernie. I had planned on ordering something but when I went to do it it was on back order. I am going to attempt to make homemade fried chicken for him tonight. I think I did it once before and that was probably fifteen years ago so we'll see. I've got it soaking in buttermilk as we speak, well uh type....
4. Sasha mentioned the Red Wheel in my Patty Melt post...and now Ernie and I are trying to remember where it was....and was there more than one? Anybody? The Chuckwagon was before my time but Ernie has fond memories of it....where was that? I thought it was on Springfield but what the hell do I know...I wasn't even around then.... Oh, and in answer to tbillini----I'm guessing the Golden Bear we went to was in Downers Grove but I think it was a small chain so probably the same as your Lansing/Calumet City memories!
5. Another meeting with the bank yesterday, now I need to set up something with our lawyer and the bank people AND nag TIAA/CREF about not getting paperwork to me. Man life is weird.
