Changes in the Yard....Recommendations Needed...
Lots of changes in my yard given that trees just keep tumbling to the ground. When we moved in here I was overwhelmed by all the shade but I gave in....I accepted it....I grew to adore hostas....and I loved it. Then we started losing our shade..... This summer had produced several bleached and stressed hostas and some dead shade plants in the spot that is now sunny rather than shade. Given that it has been a wet and cool summer that means there is no way these will be happy there in the future.
We've also had more vegetables in our yard this year. We used to have a huge vegetable garden back behind our garage before we had kids. It was beautiful....it had little paths and tons of things and we LOVED it. Once we started having children and then life piled on other stuff we realized that it was too much for us. We started just throwing a few tomato plants in and leaving it at that. This year we increased things to swiss chard, kale, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, jalapenos and various herbs. I find that I am enjoying having our own vegetables even more than I remembered. So I'm thinking that some of the space that is too sunny now for my shade plants....or the area near the morning glories that was supposed to be daylilies but is overrun with weeds.....will go to vegetables...
SO.....what do you find to be the most worthwhile use of your garden space?
Give me your thoughts.....
oh....and here are wonderful little nuggets that used to be cherry tomatoes. SO worth the time....
