Quiet Summer Weekend
It's been a weekend of staying home, sitting in the boys' pool, making refrigerator pickles, reading the paper and harvesting cherry tomatoes. Yes, a decided lack of productive work and yet it seems right this way. At the moment I'm oven drying a load of cherry tomatoes and looking at our messy living room. Bob the cat is in a feisty mood, looking for more wallpaper to tear off our walls so we yell at him periodically. Later on we're taking my mother out to lunch and then theoretically this afternoon we will do some paperwork we need to take care of for the lawyer.
And that.....I think....is about it.
zucchini soaking in an ice bath before putting the brine on them....
Leo sliced the cucumbers into chunks for this batch. I showed him how to do it and then he just brushed me away and said, "I'll take if from here." God I love that boy.
Doing this batch of cherry tomatoes in a 200 degree oven with just olive oil and salt. Maybe I'll add garlic and herbs to the next batch but I wanted this one to be just pure tomatoness.....
