Geesh

Ernie and I went to visit my mother this morning.  When we first went in I thought she seemed much better.  We chatted for awhile and then I slowly realized that things weren't quite right yet.  She's very cheerful when she's confused----I'll give her that.  She seems concerned about international relations too....yesterday it was the Chinese....today it was the Russians.  She's also convinced that the call button for the nurse goes to another room----she thinks the wiring got screwed up when they changed it for the Russians....  There was also a physical therapist that was dressed something like a clown, brought her flowers and reminded her of one of our childhood neighbors...something about saying "I'll just grab a girl" which she said sounded like a doctor and Mr. Clark.

Huh.

There was more.  I spoke to the nurse and she said she had seemed fine.  I said, uh....no, not really.  She said she didn't know anything about discharge and I said, "oh that's o.k....I'm in NO rush at all...."

We laugh about it but it still makes us sad.

Eh.....  It's o.k.  I've got my husband who's building a fire in the fireplace as we speak and we have absolutely no plans to do a single productive thing today.

And my sweet peas....I've got my sweet peas....my beautiful little sweet peas.....

Owen can make Ernie laugh so hard he turns bright red.....

See?

Life's good....not easy....but good.....

Here's a link to a really powerful post about living with the mental illness of a loved one.  Reading things like this really helps to a put a lot into perspective....  It's by someone I don't really know but is kind of Vertebrat-in-law.....  Go read it.
