An Evening at the Loveless Cafe....
I'm sitting here....hoping that it really will snow overnight. I'm like a little kid....I get so excited when they predict snow.....I swear I know it's messy and makes it hard to get around but honestly.....how can you NOT get excited about snow?
Anyway, Ernie, Owen and I are sitting here in the living room listening to "Live from the Loveless" on WSM. Ahhhhh.....Jim Lauderdale started it out, Chuck Mead is playing now and we're waiting for Kristi Rose and Fats Kaplin. I was pleased to see that Owen cheered when they were announced..... Leo is happily playing playstation in the media room....Owen had been hogging the tv playing Beatles Rock Band. I swear to God it can kind of mess with your mind to hear him walking around the house singing the Beatles...all good mind you...but still mindboggling at times.....
Ernie's doing a crossword puzzle, Owen is snuggled up next to him wrapped in a blanket (it's COLD). Right now he's playing with his DS, but a little while ago he was reading a book. I tried to take a picture but I think my old Kodak, which was close at hand, has finally given up the ghost....
Chuck Mead is doing some BR5-49 songs. Ernie and I were heading to Nashville about a million years ago (1993ish?) for an antique show and my mother sent me (my folks were still living near Chicago) a clipping from the Tribune that said a band called BR5-49 was playing at a club on Broadway..... So we headed over.....it was very early BR5-49....they still had a sax player for god's sake..... Had a couple of other good nights there......ahhhhh...the days before children!
Anyway, this is making me DAMN happy.
I gotta say however listening to music with Owen is a hell of a lot of fun. Sometimes we watch Wide Open Country together and he thoughtfully critiques the videos....."I like the rhythm, but I don't like his voice" and the like and damned if I don't usually agree with him....
