Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  I'm thinking (o.k., o.k....I'm obsessing) about painting my bedroom.  Whoops, let me rephrase that....I'm obsessing about ERNIE painting OUR bedroom.  Many trips to get yet one more paint chip.  Here they are all taped to my wall.  Last night I had the ceiling fan on and they kept flapping lightly in the breeze....it made me want to get MORE paint chips and have one big flapping wall of colors!

2.  Of course the deal is that Owen is the next person to get his room painted.  We've moved from camouflage walls (thank you very much)....then he wanted bright red walls.  Hmmmm.  NOW however he would like one bright red wall, one bright blue wall and two black walls.  It's something to do with Mario Brothers.  We're at an impasse....

3.  I've been growing various herbs in my garden for years now but this year they have just taken OFF!  The oregano which has  been a respectable little patch for a couple of years is all of a sudden HUGE, the pineapple mint, which isn't as fierce as other mints and has sometimes died off---is EVERYWHERE.  It's amazing.  The gardener where I work who is a very serious gardener and in his 80's says he hasn't seen a spring like this for plant growth in about eight years.  I wonder what the summer holds for us.

4.  The boys only have two more weeks of school and won't have homework for the rest of the year.  It's a good thing because I'm having a harder and harder time enforcing bedtimes.  We're just getting into that time of year where it only seems right that they are out there playing late into the evening.  I guess I'd be a failure with year round/balanced calendar school.....

5.  Judi's estate is almost done.  All we have to do is set up the trust and finish the final paperwork.  We have a wonderful attorney----who is really, really kind to boot.  It helps.  It helps.

6.  Music Fog has a new video of our beloved Kevin Welch:

7.   One more peony picture because I can't help myself.  Mmmmmmmm....  Growing up we didn't have much in the way of flowers in our yard.  We did however have a row of these pink peonies running alongside the house.  Every year I would watch jealously as other kids brought bouquets of daffodils, then tulips and then lilacs to the teacher.  I would worry and worry and worry that the peonies wouldn't bloom before the end of school---in time for me to bring flowers to the teacher.  They always did though....they always did...
