It’s Thursday morning and I’m grumpy. Nice weather, great husband, almostFriday, bursting garden, sweet boys…..but I’m still grumpy. I ache and I feel overwhelmed. I need to focus on how happy I will behanding Amy Rigby her long lost glasses tomorrow evening. Focus, focus, focus.
I still have a wretched sore throat. I cancelled my plans for yesterdayevening and went home and just kind of collapsed. I went outside at one point because the light was nice fortaking pictures but didn’t last long before I went back in and curled up on thecouch. So with no other news I'll just post some recent, random pictures.
When they moved our old refrigerator out to put the new one in....they found Bob's stash of Lego wheels. His greatest delight is carrying Lego wheels around in his mouth, sometimes he drops them in his water dish but eventually he always ends up batting them under the refrigerator. Then he'll lie there....watching intently to see if they will attack. For a long time I thought we had mice....until we figured out that it was just Bob's stash of wheels. I imagine there are a lot under the stove as well. Oh yeah, they also found Yoda's head.
Here’s a picture of me taking fantastic ingredients (speck,or smoked prosciutto, Prairie Fruits Farm chevre, gnocchi, nice mushrooms fromthe farmers’ market and garlic) and making a perfectly, uh….o.k. meal. You know how sometimes a meal seemsmore than the sum of its parts? This meal was less than the sum of its parts. I think I used too many strong flavors….should have kept itsimpler. Mind you, it wasgood----just not as good as I thought it would be. Simplify Cynthia…..simplify.
Here’s some of my gorgeous arugula that I should haveharvested sooner as it was way too bitter. I ate a piece or two raw and it was sharp, but o.k. but whenI mixed it with some smashed yellow potatoes and a bit of butter it ended upterribly bitter. Oh well.
The dill that reseeded from last year is ready to reseedagain. I did make a little pureeof dill, oregano, lemon balm and a little butter to cook our salmon last nightand that at least turned out well.
Another picture of the gooseneck loosestrife because Ican’t resist. They’re moregoosenecky later in the day.
And a tomato status report:
