Doughnuts and Pat DiNizio
Long, long day yesterday. I had to work in the evening and half the day was spent dealing with my computer which I kinda enjoy but isn't the most directly productive time. Luckily I love our IT person (hi Sarah) but with the evening event as well it was a long day. I got home tired and a bit frazzled but all three boys jumped to greet me. Ernie had a chicken roasting in the oven, Leo gave me a quiet smile and a hug and Owen took my coat from me, hung it up and guided me to the couch, patting my back and telling me that all I had to do now was relax. My sweet peas. I watched the end of American Idol but then I found the tv too loud. When I'm tired I get ultra sensitive to noise. And I find I have less and less tolerance for watching long periods of tv. I wandered a little bit, talked to Leo about some school stuff and waffled about what to do. Eventually I gave in and went up to bed and got onto....my NEW MATTRESS! Yay! In the last year or two we have found hotel beds to be outrageously comfortable which finally led us to the conclusion that we were sleeping on a godawful mattress. I've obsessed and talked about it for months so we finally bought it last weekend and got it, and my lovely new pillows, delivered yesterday. Oh....it was heaven. I read for quite a while and then drifted off to sleep. When Ernie came up he said, "how is it" and in my sleepy mind all I could think was, "I feel like a doughnut....a doughnut sizzling happily in it's cooking oil." Now in the light of day I find that one of the oddest, and slightly unpleasant, analogies that I've ever heard but last night...in that delightful dream state.....I felt like a doughnut....a really happy, comfortable doughnut.
Other news, other news.... OH....I realize that I don't think I have announced the Pat DiNizio show here!
Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens....live in our living room!

There will a couple of batches of soup and chili. If you want to bring something to share (bread/appetizer/dessert/drinks) that would be great but not required. What WILL be required is a $15 donation from all adults. AND, please bring money to buy cds if you're interested---that's how Pat makes this kind of event feasible for him!
All are welcome----and please extend the invite to others---we'd really like a good crowd for him. Email me if you have questions and please rsvp on facebook if you're on there.
