I Went to a Funeral Yesterday

I went to a funeral yesterday.

Just two days shy of the anniversary of my mother's funeral (and Judi's birthday).  It was in the same church and it was for the mother of a friend of ours.

I was discombobulated all day long.  Finally in the afternoon I looked at the date and figured out why.

I gotta say my friend Bob does a great funeral.  And my friend Phil said that it was because of Bob's service for my mother that he asked Bob to do this for him.  So I kind of felt like I'd given a gift to Phil and that felt good.

I was glad that Ernie and I went.  Phil is an old friend, has been kind and supportive of us, and I know he adored his mother.  He was a wonderful son.

I am waiting for this month to be over.  I went home and cooked my go-to comfort food dinner of oven-fried curried chicken with swiss chard.  I watched American Idol but there wasn't enough Steven Tyler last night.  Then Cheetah Chrome called to me (well, actually just his book) and I went upstairs and read until I couldn't keep my kindle steady in my hands.

One more February day down.
