Old Pictures, LSTs and American Idol
I had to leave work a little early to be home with Owen. He did his homework quickly and then started playing a video game (sigh). I figured I should go through some more of the boxes from the fourth room. I spent an hour or two sorting through the pictures, unpacked some boxes that had more of my mother's china that I'd forgotten about and went through a box of a bunch of paperwork. I could tell it was one of those boxes at my parents' house that I when I looked at I just threw up my hands and said, "I don't have the time to go through this now----just bring it back to the house." Ugh. I went through stacks of papers and just when I was about to throw a big stack away I found a folder in the middle of it that had copies of letters that my father had written to another veteran from the LST 924 several years ago. It hurt my heart just to look at them but I'm so glad I found them. I set them aside to read. They're important records of his life so they'll go to the boys.
I'm a little heartsore but I haven't cried. I found some more great pictures. My mind is busy trying to make sense of it all. I took some ibuprofen and all will be fine. I'm going to have a glass of wine and go watch American Idol with Owen. Although I'm not enjoying it as much as I was. Stephen's not being as naughty and they all keep liking everybody. Hmph.
