Phil Lee, A Friend Named Van and the Elusive Ambassador of Good Will

I lost my friend Van coming up on a year ago.  I loved Van dearly and I still feel the loss.  I can only imagine...well, I take that back, I CAN imagine how his sister and family feel.  I miss my sister as much today as I did when she died two years ago.

This last weekend I met a new friend named Van. He's not just like my Van but there is a similarity or two....a passion for music, a sweetness.   It's funny...but I somehow feel so grateful to have another friend named Van.  I'd like him regardless of his name of course...but it's somehow comforting to have another friend named Van.  It just feels like a connection, a tribute....I don't know...it just feels good.

So my new Van was kind enough to put this video online so I could embed it here.  Just Some Girl by Phil Lee is one of those songs that can hurt so much when you listen to it that I must admit I sometimes skip it on the cd...just because I'm not ready to feel that much.  It's a gorgeous song though....and one of the highlights of the show the other night.

And on a different note....good Lord but sometimes my children amuse me.  Or maybe it’s just life that amuses me.  Ernie called me at work this afternoon and told me he’d gotten a letter announcing that Leo has been nominated for a Student Achievement Award.  Now that’s great and impressive….but wait......

You know my Leo….my sweet little curmudgeon.  The one with the groans and the sighs.  The one that hates our “stupid parties” but puts up with them stoicly. The one Phil Lee described so perfectly as “the elusive Leo."

Our little curmudgeon was nominated……as…….an....Ambassador of Goodwill.

GOODWILL!

We almost laughed til we cried.

Oh I love my sweet pea so.
