Being Of A Certain Age

I don't have my normal Friday mania going on today.  Sigh.  I have to work late so no lunch with my husband...then I gotta work for awhile tomorrow and have work (albeit mindless) to do while I'm at home over the weekend.  HOWEVER tomorrow IS the first Farmers' Market and Owen has proclaimed tonight Family Movie Night/Pizza Night and I love hanging out with the guys.  It's rare that we can convince Leo to watch something other than Stormchasers but I have said it's their choice....Star Wars etc. is fine with me.

On a different note.....my beloved Smile Politely named House Concerts as one of the best continuing music trends of the year---complete with a picture of Eric Brace, Peter Cooper and my sweet, sweet Phil Lee playing in Kari and Ben Bedford's living room in Springfield.  As they put it...."And some of the best touring acts for people of a certain age go straight through the living room of The Sandwich Life."  And it just cracked me up....it has been confirmed....I am OF A CERTAIN AGE.  I am of course but it really made me laugh and has kept a smile on my face whenever I think about it.  I think the first time I could remember my mother's age was when she was 44.  And so in some ways I always thought of her as 44.  And here I am older than that.....how the fuck did that happen?  And in many ways I always feel as though I'm 22 years old, living with Ernie in a cool apartment on Columbia Street in Champaign--- filled with Record Service promos...going out every night....on the guest list most of the time.....a life filled with love and possibilities.  I guess in many ways we're not all the different....  We don't go out much and the guests lists are scarcer so we just bring the music to us.  But the love and possibilities are still there....the love is even stronger and the possibilities....well, they're just different now....

Something to think about.....

Here's another song sung by Peter Cooper and Eric Brace (I know, I know....I should wonder why my children have obsessive tendencies).  Written by Peter and the great Todd Snider.
