Millie, Billie, Bearie and Rod Picott

I swear to God Owen broke my nose.  The other night I was lying in bed reading and he came charging in the room all clean after a shower.  He bounced onto the bed so I could smell his hair and somehow bounced his head right into my nose.  He didn't even reprimand me when I started swearing violently because he could tell it REALLY hurt.  The next day my eyes were a little puffy and it hurt like hell.  It's getting better but everytime I make the mistake of rubbing my eyes or blowing my nose it starts hurting again.  That head of his is dangerous.  Good thing it wasn't Leo...that might have killed me.

A good Ray Davies kind of day yesterday...highs and lows.  We got work done around the house, I paid a bunch of bills and scheduled some automatic payments, etc.  Watched a little bad tv and ate chips and salsa....had a long talk about Ernie's cancer, where he is and the treatment possibilities.  Difficult but good.  The boys raced theirs bikes in the street with a bunch of neighborhood kids....picked some tomatoes....listened to music.....grilled some steak.....watched Next Food Network Star with the boys.

For some reason the electricity in our bedroom came back on yesterday so it was a little easier to read in bed.  I laid there listening to Rod Picott and I felt such satisfaction at being home and in my bed and listening to him right then and there.  My bedside table is a 19th c. little table.  I have my ipod dock on it and the only other thing that's supposed to be on it is a lovely flow blue pitcher that was my mother's.  Somehow Millie the purple pikmin sits in the pitcher though----which throws off the look I was going for a bit.  And Billie...another purple pikmin, stays there to keep Millie company.  And then Owen lets me keep Bearie there....to keep me company as Bearie is a bit too fragile for actual contact snuggling.  And then there's the flashlight for when the power doesn't work.  And so as I laid there last night, listening to Rod Picott and looking at my chaotic little table with  Millie and Billie and Bearie and the flashlight.....I felt really happy to be there.
