Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. I love gloomy October mornings better than almost any other kind of day. The leaves glow against the grey sky. It makes my head want to float. Sometimes when I see or hear things I love I get this buzz---this weightlessness in my head----I can't explain it...but I get it when I see lots of gold leaves....and I got it when I was listening to the Supersuckers Jackalope Eye yesterday.
2. And therein lies a question. The Supersuckers are playing the Castle Theatre on November 8. Elizabeth Cook is playing the Rosebowl on November 5. Hmmmm. I really don't think we afford both....so what to do? I must confess I'm leaning toward the Supersuckers...even though it's on a Tuesday night. Thoughts?
3. Owen and Ernie are off to the antique show this morning. I'm going to miss my guys but I'm looking forward to the weekend with Leo. In our ongoing Pumpkin Wars (so far The Pumpkin Patch vs Curtis Orchards) I believe Leo and I will make an attempt to check out Negangard Pumpkins this weekend.
4. Owen decided to work on painting his Legend of Zelda Lego-compatible stuff (the stuff we had to replace after Ernie broke his sword) last night. I walked through the dining room only to doubleback at this sight. Ernie patiently holding the little Linc cap with a pair of pliers so that Owen could paint it.
5. Friday evening there is a exhibition opening and performance at the Y on Wright Street. It should be a lovely start to the weekend.... I like things that look at our landscapes and how we interact with them. It's called Waveland: A Meditation, Photographs by Valerie Oliveiro. Waveland MS was evidently the ground zero for Katrina and the worst hit beach on the MS gulf coast from the BP oil spill. Oh, and Jason Finkelman will be performing ambient/avant world music which will of course be geat. It starts at 7:00 and goes until 9:00. Please stop by if you can!
6. And last but not least...a couple of pictures from the Pumpkin Patch. Ernie took them when he was still trying to salvage the outing. You know my theory---even if you can't HAVE a good time you can at least get some pictures.....
7. Enjoy the fall gloom!
