Bonus Day
The weekend was busy and kinda tiring. I worked half a day on Saturday and then felt so rotten in the afternoon that I canceled having family over for dinner. I'd been looking forward to it and had everything bought and ready to go but felt really terrible....so now I must reschedule. Then I worked almost all day yesterday and was exhausted last night and didn't sleep well.
I woke up this morning and found a text from my boss telling me to take the day off. I kid you not. Isn't that like a dream?
I texted back, "seriously?" and she said yes.
So I did.
Ahhhhh.
I know. Lucky, lucky, lucky.
It was grey and spitting a bit outside so Ernie and I went for a drive. There is nothing I love more than driving out in the country on a grey day. We stopped at an antique mall in Clinton and I passed up a piece of early glass that had some damage...I gotta say it is still haunting me. We'll see if I can restrain myself from going back. I did pick up three Spode plates very cheap in the my mother's pattern. Then we meandered back home and had lunch at Black Dog. I gotta say, I love my husband's pulled pork so it is rare that I have some and think it as good as his.....but if there had been just a bit more of the bark in it I think we would have had a tie....
Now we're hanging out with the guys and I'm going to start hitting cookbooks for recipes for dinner. I rescheduled my after work coffee date with a friend so I could stay home and revel in my bonus day.
Maybe I can convince someone to build a fire in the fireplace for me too.....
What a lovely bonus day....and this evening we get to watch our friend Val in the WILL-TV live cooking show!!!
Good day, good day, good day.....
