Knowing Me Knowing You

We are all such funny creatures. None more so than my beloved boys. This morning I found a batch of crumpled papers that Owen had dumped out of his backpack. I unrolled them and threw most of them out but one was a project in which classmates wrote comments about each other. Man I gotta tell you....that teacher is a braver woman than I!

The first comment is from his teacher, the rest from his classmates.

You are a very level student. You don't let things bother you! You are mature and humble.

You are very intelligent and leveled.

You are brave.

You are an excellent artist!

U are very quiet.

You are such a mature person.

You are a very smart guy.

You are a bright person.

You are a responsible and brave boy.

You are a very peaceful person because you are just quiet.

You are a very silly person.

You are very good.

You're peaceful.

You are pleasant because you help others.

The jokes you tell are funny.

You are really bright.

You are smart.

You are trustworthy.

And much of it I agree with...the silly, the funny, the smart....but what I took away the most is that they don't really know him at all. My baby is so sweet and easily hurt and brilliant and musical and witty and loving....and they mostly said he was quiet. Not that I expect others to know him as I do but it struck me just the same. There was anything wrong or unkind about it but it just made me realize how little we know one another in many aspects of our life.

And somehow.....all I could think of was ABBA (side note: have I ever told you about Ernie's ABBA clogs?)
