Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1. I'm in music pain. Both IAN HUNTER and the Mavericks are playing at City Winery in coming months and we can't swing either one. Guhhhhh. Ian is during the school year and during the week so it won't work and I can't really swing the time off for the Mavericks and of course it's $50 a ticket too. I hate to think of missing either one...sigh....but I guess I shouldn't be greedy.

2. For Ernie's Father's Day dinner I took the bluefin tuna we got from Cheese and Crackers and rubbed a bit of olive oil on it, seasoned it with salt and pepper and then rolled it in black and white sesame seeds. I seared each side and left it raw in the middle. We sliced it and served it with some wasabi mayo and a sauce made of cooked down soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin and a bit of rice wine vinegar. I drizzled a bit of that sauce on the rice and on some asparagus that I cooked til just done and then tossed with a bit of sesame oil. It turned out pretty good...not perfect...and my plating isn't gorgeous but I was ravenous with hunger as somehow it had gotten very late....

3. Tonight? Who the hell knows what we're eating.

4. Phil Lee THIS Friday!!!! Go along and pay up now folks (top right on this page) so I don't get all stressed out about not having enough people! And god knows you don't want to miss out on the hot dogs, or Sue-norran dogs OR the corn dogs! If anyone wants a copy of the poster just holler.
