Attention! Words About My Real Deal.
There's no question that Ernie and I love music and are passionate about those whose music speaks to us. And I wish I could be more articulate in explaining why and how it speaks to us. Unfortunately I am not. All I can say is that it does....but even amongst the many songwriters, musicians and performers that we love.......there are a special few.
The REAL DEAL, as we say.
And without a doubt, one of those is David Olney.
I love him. He's my real deal. He breaks my heart, he makes me laugh, he touches me. His songs are amazing creatures, his performances beyond words.
He's my guy. And to top it off he's the perfect combination of a total curmudgeon and a bit of a sweet pea. I have a soft spot for that combination.
He's got a Kickstarter going and I am just waiting for payday this Friday to contribute a bit. I wish we could do more....honestly I REALLY want to get the black and white Scully jacket for Ernie....but we will do what we can. And then we will have him back to play again when the album is out....if we can wait that long.
Even if you can't do a lot, I encourage you to do just a bit. I know there are tons of Kickstarters and you have to pick and choose....it's hard. I know we, personally, aren't able to support as many as we would like, but there are some where there's no question that we will do our small part and this is certainly one of them.
David Olney. My real deal.
I love this video. It's the first song from their first house concert at our place. One of my favorite things about it is that as he gets going in the intro recitation you can hear people almost nervously giggling. Many of the people there at that point had never heard David and Sergio before and were going, "what the fuck IS this?" and WHAM they go into Sweet Poison.... Damn everytime I watch this I just giggle with pleasure. And of course I haven't even mentioned the incredible (and delightful) Sergio Webb.
Yeah. The real deal.
