Podcasts, Principals and House Concerts
O.k. I'm sitting upright at the computer so I'm obviously not deathly ill. Damn, I feel lousy though, the whole family seems to have been hit with a bug, Leo and me the worst, Ernie to a lesser degree, and Owen to a degree only known by his internal acting coach.
Yesterday I felt a little better and even went to a meeting for work before heading back to collapse, only to come home to not just one, but TWO emails from middle school teachers, a call from the principal and various accompanying meltdowns and losses of temper. Let's just say that nobody in the family had the best day.
I assumed I'd feel better today but Leo and I are both home again. I should be able to trudge my way back into the workweek tomorrow. I slept much of the morning away, read a little bit while fighting to keep the cat from turning the pages on my iPad (never, EVER play your cat a game on your iPad). Eventually I had to get up so I wandered into the kitchen to find Ernie cleaning while listening to a podcast of an interview with David Olney with Otis Gibbs. It's a WONDERFUL, wonderful interview. Highly recommended. You can listen here or head over to Otis Gibbs' site which has a plethora of other great stuff!
And while you're listening you can trot over to David's Kickstarter and pledge a bit. I'm still waiting for payday which seems to be taking a long time to get here this month. If I could I'd pledge to get this jacket. Wouldn't Ernie look delightful in it?
In other kinda related news, we have the schedule for our next three house concerts. I put them on facebook yesterday and realized that once again I'd scheduled two house concerts for one pay period....and over the holiday. I'm an idiot....and yet they are going to be SO damn wonderful it's all worth it!!! Spread the word far and wide please.

New Year's Day with Kevin Gordon!

late afternoon----exact time tbd
I am WAY excited about this. It's kind of a wild card because I don't know how many people will be able to make it but I can't think of a better way to start the New Year. We're not big New Year's Eve people ourselves and I always feel that there should be a celebration on the day itself. Kevin is traveling through...so here we go. Potluck will be good luck foods for the New Year!
RB Morris

Potluck at 6:00 pm, music to follow
We are thrilled about this one. RB will be performing but also doing some reading from his literary works. I'd like to reach out to folks that would be particularly interested in the poetry side. Any ideas??? If you're not familiar with him, this article from a few years ago is a good place to start.
And now my head is killing me despite the ibuprofen so I am going to try to go curl up very quietly so Annie doesn't see me and come beg for the iPad.
