Savoring the Weekend and a Question for You
A delightfully lazy weekend. It's the first weekend we haven't had a house concert or I've had to work a lot so even though I missed some good stuff at the Folk and Roots Festival I needed to huddle close to home. We have just cooked good dinners and read and listened to music. We worked on sorting too many magazines and papers and cleaning the media room, put up a couple more house concert posters on the wall, watched some cooking videos from the NYT that inspired us to go buy anchovies....overall pretty delightful. Last night we peeled some tomatoes and toasted some chilis to turn our leftover vegetable soup into chile. We're having that tonight and I'm hoping it turned out well.
Right now I am sitting directing Ernie on chopping green tomatoes and peppers and onion for chow-chow. I was chopping for awhile but my back started hurting like hell so I moved into a supervisory mode. I have to head to work in a while but just for a few hours. Then I'm going to come back and savor the rest of my quiet weekend.
OH....one more thing.....how weird would it be to have a house concert on New Year's Day? Maybe late afternoon??? I think it would be a delightful way to spend New Year's Day but then again I'm not a big New Year's Eve person....AND isn't football a thing on New Year's Day? Your thoughts would be appreciated as I'm intrigued but not quite sure how others would think of it.....
