Winding Down To A Good Place

Ahhh....the wretched week winds down. Yesterday felt like a day full of free floating anxiety. The strange spring stormy skies and winds made it feel even more so. However, Ernie managed to get a new pair of dress shoes for Owen to wear for his recital (size 10 1/2 on a 12 year old...what awaits us?), Owen did a good job on his trumpet recital, I lured his brother to attend with the promise of dinner at Fries and Peanuts afterward and all was pretty much right with the world. We got to Fries and Peanuts and found a spot in the corner and sat and talked. Owen did sadly say, "if Amy or Mary were here they'd ask me about my band shirt" but we persevered. At one point Owen was drawing faces on the peanuts while Leo was discussing gamma rays and black holes and I realized that things were pretty damn good. We got back home and I sat on the couch and let my mind wander while Leo headed back to his computer responsibilities and Owen made Ernie chase him around the house...or maybe that was the other way around....I'm not quite sure. I went up to bed to read and enjoy the sound of the wind but I got numerous visits from said boys before I drifted off.

A better day.

And I love this song so much it can make me cry. Not in a bad way though. It is, of course, also the song, from which Owen learned the word prick.

Rod Picott next Saturday. Thank you, thank you, thank you....
