Walkway Thoughts

Our patio fence is officially dead. It has been getting more and more decrepit and after a storm last fall (the day the tornado hit Gifford) it suddenly started leaning more. Ernie went out to look at it when I was working on Saturday and decided it was over and he pulled most of it down.

Then we sat outside and proceeded to burn some of it. Man it went fast.

So now we are faced with a budget that won't allow us to replace it but DAMN I hate the way it looks without it. I'm thinking maybe a line of ornamental grasses???? Or will the snakes like those? And we gotta figure out some way to hide the garbage can cause right now it's just boldly staring in our kitchen window from the alley.

Piffle.

My mother used to say piffle instead of damn it. I kinda like it.

I also need to figure out the walkway to our house from the alley. It's super narrow concrete and kind of sunk in so it floods. Can I put something OVER it? Widen it a bit and put something over it??? Maybe fine gravel with stepping stones? Or would that end up creating a mess? Would I absolutely have to dig out the concrete that's there (cause that sounds like a hell of a lot of work) or could I go over it with something.

Thoughts?

Suggestions?
