Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1. Still no word or comment from Carle about the links I sent to them via their Patient Relations website, and that they also got via other people. Way to make you feel like you just don't fucking matter.

2. I'll give Carle this though. As I read back through some of my old posts regarding Carle I came across one entitled You Know What I Don't Get? from 2009. In it, I said:

You know what I don't get?  I don't get why....with all the doctors and nurses we seem to have....Oncologist A, Oncologist B, Primary Care Guy, Nurses Here and Nurses There....why doesn't anyone ever say "how are you doing emotionally?  Is everything O.K?  Do you need to talk to somebody?  Do you want a magic pill?  Do you need help figuring out how to get your kids through all this crap?

You know, among all the blood tests, the infusions, the pills, the scans, the injections, the questions about pain and peeing, etc.......why doesn't anyone ever say "How are  you doing?  Are you hanging in there?"

Of course why do I bother wondering because if someone asked Ernie that he'd just say he was fine.....

I must say however, that they now DO ask this when they check you in for an oncologist appointment. I was impressed when they started doing that. How many people respond honestly I don't know but sometimes all you need is that little opening. So.... I'll give them that.

3. First day of school today. I could have wept. High School and 7th grade. My sweet peas. My weasels.

4. My morning glory is finally blooming. My malva zebrina has some weird rust thing going on this year but I still love it.

5. LOVED, loved, loved Rod Picott's web concert the other night. Hope it was good for him because I want another one!

6. Roasting more tomatoes for sauce... Sola Gratia has tomato seconds (which are still gorgeous) for $1.25 a pound, so we got even more to keep making sauce, etc. They have vegetables available to the public....here's the story:

 We have tomato seconds available for sale today (Tuesday) from 3-6p at the farm for $1.25/lb.

- We'll have additional produce available this Thursday from 3-6p at the farm.

- We will be at the Farmer's Market this Saturday.

- We also have 2 1/2 shares remaining for the CSA and another 12 weeks to go in the strongest part of the season.  That means the boxes are FULL for HALF price.  Please tell your friends!  It would be great to sell out.

 

7. Every morning when I start down our creaky stairs Rascal comes bounding from wherever he is and greets me. It's a pretty great way to start the day.
