Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1. Interesting fact about me? I only experience road rage in parking garages.

2. I misspoke on facebook last night. I hang my head in shame...but it was Paul Revere and the Raiders that was thumping above me in Owen's bedroom, not the Dave Clark Five.

3. A few minutes later Owen came pounding down the stairs, yelling, "Dad, QUICK, get your coat!" Ernie rolled his eyes and said, "Whaaaaat Dude?" but he kindly put his coat on. Owen dragged him outside and a few minutes later they came back in from the garage with Owen holding a big box of records from the 'R's.

4. Salt and Pepper pork chops with blanched and sauteed kale and sesame noodles. Star of the plate, the simple kale with a bit of garlic. Farmer Greg strikes again. Then the noodles, then the pork chops.

5. Tonight? Smelt! I'm very excited....any recipes or cooking tips are welcome!

6. Sometimes I find looking at old building to be an aphrodisiac. Perhaps that's odd, but damn....look at this place....

7. Some brioche from the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. Ernie made the dough (of course) and I rolled it up with some apple butter and cinnamon and brown sugar. Pretty wonderful but the apple butter? Eh. I think those apple trees might go this year. What do you think Susan? 

8. And in the things-to-note category. I forgot the 6th anniversary of my sister's death. I mean I knew it was early February, one of the many reasons February isn't my favorite month, but February 7th came and went without my marking it. On one hand I almost felt guilty when I realized it....but on the other I know that it's a good thing for me....and we'll celebrate her birthday come February 25. I love you Judi.

9. Oh, and time to pay up for Radney Foster!!! We're capping this at 50 people so if you definitely want to go...pay up sooner rather than later!! Listen to the story and his song below....this is truly going to be a great show.
