Not the First Time I've Titled a Post 'Perspective' and It Won't Be the Last

Writing this blog has been very good for me. I've made some incredible friends. Then again I've lost some friends. Despite the good and bad of it though, I feel as though I somehow united the separate sides of me here---the antiques me, the music me, the homebody me, the cooking me, the grumpy me, the hopeful me, the architecture me, the Mom me, the wife me and all the others me's. One of the most valuable things it has done, as it turns out, however, is that I have created a record of my life. Sometimes, looking back before 2006 I get a little hazy, trying to remember when such and such happened. Since then...I just go look it up.

Now I have a written frame of reference. It's easy to misremember things...exaggerate the easiness or difficulty of a certain period of time. I sometimes just page back and read years old posts because it helps me to realize where I am now, if I see where we were in the past. So when one of my teenagers breaks my heart and leaves me in the foulest of moods....I can go back and read how hard life was when we were taking care of Judi as she was dying, or dealing with my father's Alzheimer's or that brutal last year of my mother's life.

Perspective, perspective, perspective. I'm going with the theory that anything that helps me to put things in perspective is good. Sometimes though...I have to try to convince myself.

Working this afternoon, then supposed to go out with Ernie. Not sure what I really feel like doing though.

starting to sell off some of my mother's Wedgwood blue and white plates....
