Chicken, Pancakes, Days Off, and the Holocaust
I am trying to hang on til mid-May. Things should calm down a bit then. I took the day off yesterday as I worked all weekend and will work much of this weekend as well. I got a call from work late morning though and had to go in for a bit and be videotaped for something. NOT my favorite thing. I actually dug out some 10 year old makeup to put on but I don't know if it helped. Ugh. Ernie took me out for lunch and I still hoped to get some things checked off my day-off list but by the time we got home Owen came home from school and somehow Ernie owed him a trip to Custard Cup so they went and were gone an hour and a HALF...long lines at Custard Cup. By then it had gotten cloudy and was after 5:00 and I was feeling kind of pissy about it all about my lost day. Oh well. I can't really complain.
It was pancake night again and as much as I like pancakes I wasn't really feeling it. I decided that since people do chicken and waffles all the time, why couldn't we do chicken and pancakes? It turned out surprisingly good. I cut some boneless chicken breasts into small pieces and coated them in a very spicy batter. Served them with pancakes and strawberries. The syrup on the pancakes balanced the spice of the chicken. I rather thought it was delightful!
And last but not least....the article about the high school teacher situation is in the News-Gazette today. We shall see what this brings.
This picture seems to be focusing on my rather healthy glass of wine, but it's supposed to be about the chicken and pancakes....use your imagination....
