Thanksgiving Past: 2011

We started out the day with the Turkey Trot at Crystal Lake Park. Leo grumbled the whole time and said he's never doing THAT again because he found it 'tiring' and when his legs get cold they sting. Yeah, whatever Leo. Owen enjoyed it except for the heartbreak of not getting a blue ribbon for completion because they ran out a few people in front of him. Ernie and I found it delightful, particularly because we ran into our beloved Teri and Brian. We headed home and I started cooking. Not my best Thanksgiving meal ever but I enjoyed it greatly just the same. It was wonderful having my BIL Dennis and our friend Susan with us.

Owen, with Ernie's assistance, created his experimental dessert. Pie crust filled with rice crispies and cookie dough, then topped with some sliced apple and brown sugar. He baked it and then added fresh apple with lemon juice and a sprinkling of dried cranberries. I must say it was quite wonderful. I was actually too full to eat much of the maple cheesecake that Ernie had made because let's face it, there's only room for one stellar hit dessert at the table.
