Roses and Boys and Music and Slogging
Sometimes I wish I could remember things better. I know that last night Owen made me laugh so hard I almost cried but now I don't remember why. He also insisted he wanted to wear his Strokes t-shirt to 8th grade graduation. I said on just one day out of the year perhaps he could not wear a Strokes t-shirt and Leo even chimed in and told him he had to dress up. Come fall I will have TWO boys in high school. Crazy. I had no idea that this would go so fast. I know people told me that but there's no way to imagine it.
Owen and Ernie have been playing music down in the basement. Currently they are working up Do Anything You Wanna Do by Eddie and the Hot Rods because they know I love it so much. I am most fortunate.
In other random notes I recently witnessed Owen trying to convince Ernie that the Strokes were better than the Byrds. It was epic I tell you.
My climbing roses are blooming this year. Look Susan, look!
And sometimes I have to go back and remind myself what I adore my eldest so very, very much. Here he is, twice, absolutely positively refusing to sing in grade school. You can just feel his defiance. "You can make me stand here but you can't make me sing." Lord I love that boy.
He's in the top row of this one, in the white shirt, right under the tail of the eagle. My sweet pea. You can even see the kid next to him at one point look over like, "What is WITH you?"
In this one he is the still little figure in the second row in the green shirt with white stripes. In the description I see that I noted that it was the fourth year in a row in which he refused to sing. That's my boy.
Oh, and you might want to head over to Ear to the Ground, a music blog that I like, that is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Tell Joe congrats! Wish I could be there at the anniversary show tonight!
Amazingly enough, I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of this blog at the end of the month. I may have to celebrate!
And now, onward to the slog, onward to the slog....
