Bloom
I continue to feel discombobulated and torn between trying to avoid the news and immersing myself in it. I'm trying to force myself to look at news sources other than my standard ones. I wake up out of sorts but then sometimes there are moments that jolt me out of my preoccupation.
This morning, walking down the alley to our car, I mourned as I looked at my crumpled nasturtiums and my completely dead zinnias. Then I neared the trellis with frost damaged morning glories and the leaves of a pink climbing rose trying to hang on to their greeness. And right there, tucked under some of those leaves, was a bright purple clematis blossom. It gave me resolve. If that little clematis bud can force itself to bloom in this weather, then certainly we can do the same.
