Sweet Little Porpoise
Last night I heard Rascal crying and crying outside Owen's door. That, and the sound of claws pulling at the bottom of the door. I ignored it for awhile but had to get up anyway. I walked down the hall and Rascal meowed happily in greeting. I opened Owen's door and before he trotted in he circled against my ankles, rubbing against me, four or five times. Then he happily marched in to find his sleeping human. It was the clearest thank you I have ever seen from a cat. I crawled back into bed thinking what a sweet little cat he was and it was a moment, just like the purple clematis, that comforted me and made me feel calm and happy.
The way he wove around me reminded me for some reason of seeing harbor porpoises jumping in the water in Maine.
Owen has raised a very sweet boy.
