Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. Yesterday I felt mildly grumpy so I asked Ernie to round up Ricky to watch the guys so we could go for a drink when I got home from work. It was kind of empty at Fries and Peanuts and it felt nice to just sit there with my guy....
2. We got home and listened to the rain----the sky was beautiful. Ricky hung out with the guys a little longer and they played some complicated army game in which blankets were strung up across the living room and nerf guns were fired.
3. I'm a sucker for shots of vegetables in my saute pan... Tried a new roast chicken the other day which was so-so.....called for a mixture of honey, butter, cinnamon and turmeric on it. Too sweet for me even with the cayenne I added at the last minute. However I made some killer couscous to go with it. This mixture of lovely little carrots, some green onion and a handful of pecans...oh, I may have thrown a few currents in as well, along with some of the pan drippings so you got some of that cinnamon and turmeric....
4. I met with a lawyer about Judi's estate yesterday. It was more difficult than I expected in a couple of ways. More difficult emotionally than I thought although I guess I should have foreseen that---and it feels odd to see a lawyer when I always had my father for anything legal.... It's also a tad more complicated settling it than I thought. I still have to dig through some of her paperwork and find a little more information.
5. Ernie's hair continues to defeat hairbrushes and hair ties. I haven't brushed my hair in two days because he broke out last hairbrush. His hair also tends to burst through hair ties. He'll be sitting there and all of a sudden a hair tie will give up the fight and come shooting off his hair. He just looks at them and says, "there goes another one...." But the hairbrush thing is really too much....we need a solid steel one....
