Random Notes from the Sandwich Life Garden

It seems that the squash vine borer is decimating my squash plants....zucchini plants soon to follow I'm sure.  Sigh.  While we were on vacation my thriving zucchini plants bore four huge baseball bat sized zucchini.  We picked them and admired all the flowers, sure that we'd be overwhelmed with beautiful little zucchini any day.  Still waiting.  Huh.

We've picked some tomatoes and they've been great but they haven't been particularly plentiful.  We're pulling the beans out and will plant some more lacinato kale as I found a few leftover seeds.  Overall....not the best year....but we'll be eating kale and chard for months to come so not all is lost.....
