Pet Sounds Sucks and Other Random Notes

1. Given that Owen rarely stops talking or singing or yelling or just generally making noise, when he wants to get our attention we sometimes miss it. To get my attention he has taken to yelling "CYNTHIA" or the desperate measure of  "CINDY!!!" I will admit that does it. It's a more difficult trick with his father but he has finally perfected it. If he can't get Ernie's attention he yells, "PET SOUNDS SUCKS!" Works like a charm. Ernie glares and Owen chortles. I must admit I think it's rather brilliant. 

2. Owen is explaining to people that Arno is actually his given name, that it's a family name from his French-Canadian heritage. He says he was embarrassed by it as a child so, since his mother liked the name Owen, he has gone by Owen, but he's finally ready to claim his real name. 

3. I'll write a full-fledged post about Jon Byrd---his new album and his upcoming show at our place on Friday, September 12, 2014 but for now....here's a pic of the album cover and the sweet, sweet liner notes he wrote in which he mentioned us. Man, I just love sweet boys! Best kind ever! And the album.....mmmm....amazing.... One of the best country singers alive!

4. Best tomato harvest we've had in years. Add the Sola Gratia boxes to that and it makes for a lot of tomatoes! I'm trying to keep up with it by making sauce and freezing it, freezing some cherry tomatoes whole (they make delightful little marbles), salsa, etc. We did some roasted tomato sauce that turned out outrageously good. Now I have to keep myself from not using it and falling into the 'saving it for something special' thing. And a Red Wing crock for Mark.....
