Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1. When on earth did evenings get so short? I mean I got home about 5:30 last night and about 10 minutes later it was 10:00 and I was crawling into bed to read. I just don't get it.

2. Owen's evil cat Rascal jumped up on top of the cupboard and sat there looking down at me, peering through the row of 19th century bar bottles I have up there. Sigh.

3. On a related note, we have begun calling Owen Rascal Sr. although he has yet to threaten antique glass.

4. I will say that Rascal has been sitting on the newel post a lot lately and it makes me inordinately happy...he looks like a perfect little sculpture and it does somehow lend our house a magical air....

5. It's a good thing I know what a sweet, loving guy Leo is. Last night went like this:

Me: Hey Leo, come sit down and talk to me for a bit.

Leo: "deep sigh" Yes?

Me: How was your day?

Leo: fine

Me: How did school go?

Leo (sigh) fine

Me: Got much homework?

Leo: some

Me: Come sit and chat for a bit

Leo: (sigh) I really don't have anything to say

Me: (sigh) O.k. Well, don't forget you need to take a shower tonight.

Leo: I KNOW

Me: O.k., go upstairs. I love you sweet pea.

Leo: (in small voice) I love you too

Lord.

6. Nasturtiums seem to live for October. It's as if they know a frost is approaching and they crowd themselves together to flower. They are stunning and these pictures in no way begin to capture them. I just couldn't love them more. Perhaps if I were a flower I'd be a nasturtium. I'd always thought zinnia...but on second thought...

7. We stopped to pick up Owen from work last night. Ernie went in to get him and was taking forever...I thought to myself, "smart move...sending your husband in to a record store to get your son..." but lo and behold when they finally arrived at the car, Owen had a present for me. My sweet pea....a three disc set of my beloved Johnny Thunders. I was delighted and Owen was rather proud.

8. And last, but certainly not least....RB Morris next Saturday, October 17th. A SATURDAY show folks and you MUST make it. RB is magical, and a sweet pea to boot.
