Fog and Ornaments

My weekend has been pretty quiet as I'm still down with a bad back. We did trudge out to the Gordyville Antique Show yesterday morning. I don't know why I'm so fond of that show. It's not that there's incredible stuff....we rarely buy much....but for some reason I love it. They're always playing old scratchy sounding Christmas carols and it never seems to fail that the weather is awful. This year it was warm enough but there was a thick, thick fog which had frozen onto branches and trees. Our big purchases were some Bennington doorknobs (we're slowly replacing our house's hodgepodge of door knobs with them) and a $1 Christmas ornament for Owen. The guys get to pick out a new Christmas ornament every year. Leo's going to order another train ornament but Owen requested that we buy an old ornament for him because he likes old things better (that's my boy). I saw a few at the show and they ranged from $3 to $10....then I picked up a red one and the woman behind the table said, "Oh, that's $1" and that was that. On the way back home I tried not to move except when I had to stop and take pictures of some of the frozen fog and mist.

The rest of the day was quiet. Ernie and I made another batch of Christmas cookie dough to pop in the freezer and watched a little tv while Owen had a friend over and they worked on his computer. Later we pulled out the ornaments and started decorating the trees. There were a few moments of teenage angst but we stuck it out. I had planned to make dinner but as I curled up in my chair I voted instead for pizza. I've had a hard time sleeping with this back so I fought tiredness all day...finally falling asleep on the couch while watching a movie.

Here is Ernie putting the angel on top of the tree in the dining room....

And Leo putting the star on top of the living room tree. Nice moments.
