Psychedelic Boneyard, Milktoast, and Hellebores
Ahhhhh weekend....how I love you. I tossed around the idea of going to the Bernie Sanders rally this morning but the crowds put me off. If I thought there wouldn't be enough people I would go but since that's not he problem I am staying in the comfort of my own home, spending probably far too much time reading about the Trump rally in Chicago that was cancelled and the like.
I wish it were as sunny as yesterday. The sunshine was intoxicating. Ernie picked me up from work and we didn't really feel like going home. We stopped by the new Art Mart....looks fantastic. We wandered around a bit and ended up stopping at the the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and found a pasta maker for $15. Awhile back I got obsessed with wanting a pasta maker but I knew I would probably only use it once so I forced myself to be reasonable. $15 though? YES! Eventually we meandered home. When Owen got home from school Ernie convinced him to walk with him to meet Leo on the way home from Central. I grabbed something to read, an old Psychedelic Boneyard that had showed up in a box with my Vertebrats posters, and went and sat in the front yard to wait for them.
I heard them coming half way down the block and it made me smile to to see my three beautiful boys walking toward me. The boys are almost as tall as Ernie----still freaks me out! When they got to the table I was at, I showed them the cover of the Psychedelic Boneyard...1982 I think. It was a music paper that Tom Erbe and friends did in the early 80's. I hadn't noticed when I'd grabbed it that it included an article on the illustrious Milktoast. I opened it up and showed the boys the picture and they hooted and hollered. Leo said, "Mom, you know you have to scan this and put it on your blog." God I love that boy. Indeed. Indeed.
After that I tried to get the boys to admire the hellebores blooming in the front yard but they were too busy chortling at their father. As it should be I suppose, as it should be.
