Greyness, the Time Change, and Julie Christensen

On Thursday Ernie went in to get the result of his MRI. I was stuck working on a budget report for work so Owen went with him. Firstly, no sign of cancer so that was wonderful. Unfortunately he appears to have severe arthritis in his back. Ernie seems somewhat offended. We were sort of surprised really....I mean Owen may tell Ernie that's he's an old man all the time, but he's really not THAT old and his parents didn't have problems to this degree when they were his age. Of course he's had years of drugs poured into him to treat his cancer so who knows what that does. If the Zometa is causing the osteonecrosis of the jaw....then why wouldn't it affect the rest of his bones? He is off to the spine clinic for a consult next week and we shall see what happens. I may not like this but at least it's not cancer. And I gotta say, I was touched that Owen insisted on going with him when I was running behind. Leo also made a point of  insisting that we let him know everything immediately. I had assured them that we didn't think this was cancer related, but of course we all worry anyway.  Those boys adore their father so. He has no idea.

I've had another quiet weekend. I don't know why I'm going through such a homebody phase of late. I assume I will come out of it a bit when the weather is nicer. Today is another grey, rainy day. Ernie and I told ourselves we would do some work around the house today but I fear we're still desultorily reading the paper. And if we can make the Sunday News-Gazette stretch out that long....well, you know we're not moving fast. The time change seems to throw me off more now every year. Strange what age does to one.

I'm going to work on updating my Sandwich Life House Concert Facebook page in a bit. O.k...I'll admit it. I have TOO many shows booked this spring. I know, I KNOW....and now I'll lose another few years off my life worrying about attendance....but what are you gonna do? Say NO to Steve Forbert, NO to Jason Ringenberg, NO to Julie Christensen with our beloved SERGIO WEBB and Chris Tench? So round up some friends to bring with you to these shows....think of my blood pressure folks....

I'm really looking forward to having Julie Christensen here on Friday, May 6, 2016. She's the real deal as they say (DRINK*). She was one of the leaders of the Divine Horsemen and also toured with Leonard Cohen for years. I have a gut feeling that this will be a fantastic show. There's a good No Depression article about her from last fall....check it out. I know I'm posting a shitload of videos, but you won't be sorry if you take the time to listen and watch. She really IS the real deal.....

*Sue and Heather lovingly (I think) created a drinking game in which you drink every time I say "I love you," "beloved," or "the real deal." You'll want to be careful about choosing to play. It's a slippery slope because hell, I love a lot of people...
